A copy edit, or line edit, focuses on small issues on the level of individual words and paragraphs. There are different levels of copy editing that range from a light perusal for grammar and typos to a substantive edit, which can require substantial rewriting of segments of the manuscript to help ensure the clarity and coherence of your work. How heavy the copy edit ends up being is a negotiable part of the contract and will depend on what we agree is best for the manuscript.
What to expect from a copy edit:
I will edit your electronic manuscript for spelling, punctuation, grammar, as well as style and consistency. I will be using the track changes feature in Word so you will be able to see what and where exactly changes were made. You will also receive a style sheet to go along with my edit. Style sheets are used to ensure consistency in any spelling and style changes that are made when I edit.
